Vietnam - Finland International School (VFIS), an independent unit of Ton Duc Thang University, located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the first K12 school to be established with the best knowledge and expertise from Finland, is looking for Finnish Class Teachers, Special Needs Teacher (SEN) for its grand opening in Autumn 2019.


School location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

School type: Public, autonomy.

Duration of service required: Minimum 2 year++

Employment starts: Autumn 2019



Job Summary

Job expectation as follow:

1. Class Teachers

  • Planning and implementing teaching according to the school curriculum and Finnish pedagogical approach with local adaptation

  • A customer oriented approach according to the school guidelines

  • Continuous student assessment, follow-up and recording of student development

  • Student supervision

  • Participation in Professional Development programmes

  • Contribution to school development work

  • Weekly home-school communication with parents

  • Substitution

  • Any other duties allocated by the school administration

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Master's degree in education science (or in specific subject education plus multidisciplinary studies taught in basic education grades 1-6) including pedagogical training

  • Solid English language skills

  • Passion for teaching

  • Cultural adaptability

  • Strong work ethic and flexibility

  • Strong pedagogical skills and competence

  • At least two-year commitment to VFIS

  • Minimum three years' recent experience of teaching the Finnish National Curriculum in Finland or oversea

  • International orientation

  • Positive attitude towards change

  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills

  • Be competent and confident with the use of ICT in the classroom

  • Motivation for continuous professional development and school improvement

2. Special Needs Education Teacher (SEN):

  • Supporting students in collaboration with teachers, learning assistants and parents

  • A customer oriented approach according to the school guidelines

  • Implementing and supporting student testing according to school guidelines

  • Being active members in the Student Welfare Team

  • Contribution to school development work with a focus on SEN structures

  • Expertise in student admission through student testing and results analysis

  • Substitution

  • Participation in Professional Development programmes

  • Any other duties assigned by the school administration

Qualifications and Experiences

  • Master’s degree in Education with special pedagogy as the main subject (or with a teaching qualification including special needs teacher studies)

  • Solid English language skills

  • Passion for teaching

  • Cultural adaptability

  • Strong work ethic and flexibility

  • Strong pedagogical skills and competence

  • At least two-year commitment to VFIS Minimum three years' recent experience of teaching the Finnish National Curriculum in Finland or oversea

  • International orientation
